How to model a dice in anim8or this tutorial is mostly directed at those with little or no experiance with anim8or, you will learn how to model a simple subdivided dice with some materials. Step 1. First add a cube with the cube icon double click on the cube and add these settings
then click on build > convert to mesh. What this does is allows you to edit the cube object by moving or adding points, edges or faces. Step 2. Now the cube is a mesh object we can start editing it. Go into top view by clicking view > top or pressing 5 on your number pad.
your screen should now look like this:
go into edit mode by clicking
with the drag select tool select these points
and delete them by pressing delete on your keyboard.
go back into object mode by clicking Before: Step 3. Now with the object selected click build > mirror and select the y axis. with both objects selected press build > join solids
your object should now look like this:
copy and paste this object (ctrl c, ctrl v) and rotate the pasted object 90 degrees by clicking edit > rotate > rotate Z 90
now copy and paste this object and rotate it 90 degrees, but this time along the y axis.
select the 3 objects and build > join solids.
you should now have this:
Step 4. now comes the tedious part, connecting all the edges. go into edit mode and select the edge creation tool
it's rather hard to explain how i do it with text, so i made a little gif to help.
once you have finished the whole object, go into edge edit mode by clicking
press ctrl-a to select all and click edit > fill holes or ctrl-j.
now you should have this:
go into face edit mode by clicking
now select these faces:
and extrude them inwards using the singular extrude tool then scale them a bit with
do this again
now press shift-g
Step 5. now we need to add materials click
double click on the button that says'New'
and a diolog box comes up. make a white material you can read about materials here
when you have done click ok and click apply.
now press i to invert the selection and apply a red material.
now you should have this:
to finish off go into object mode and click build > convert to subdivided.
